Stop Gun Violence PAC Chair Brian Lemek released the following statement on National Gun Violence Awareness Day,:
“Stop Gun Violence is a gun owner and sportsmen founded organization. We own firearms. We hunt, we shoot, we safely store and we respect the Second Amendment. We don’t want the corporate gun lobby speaking for us, they don’t have the right.
“We believe in meaningful, achievable reforms that most Americans — gun owners and non-gun owners alike — already support: safe storage to keep guns out of the hands of children and those at risk of suicide or comming crimes and red flag laws that give families and law enforcement a tool to act before tragedy strikes.
“These aren’t partisan ideas, these are preventative measures that allow us to continue with the sport that we love while mitigating harm to others. The only thing that stands in the way is the gun lobby that profits from inaction and politicians too afraid to cross them.
“This June, we’re calling on responsible gun owners across the country to make clear that the toothless NRA and the dangerous Gun Owners of America do not speak for us. We want less crime and safer communities. We’re going to elect the leaders who will deliver them.”
